X Factor 2009 Auditions - Episode 2

The X Factor 2009 Auditions Episode 2 aired on Saturday the 29th of August and it was packed with the usual funny X Factor auditions and the odd gem. This time it covered the Birmingham X Factor Auditions with each contestant having to sing in front of an audiences of 2000 people. The most impressive X Factor contestants this week had to be Rozelle Phillip, Miss Fitz, Daryl Markham and Jamie "Afro" Archer. Jamie Archer did exactly the same as Danyl Johnson did in the X Factor 2009 Auditions Episode 1, he came on last and stole the show. I know Jamie Archer didn't really come on last, they just always save the best for last but you know what I mean.

Rozelle Phillip came all the way from Trinidad and Tobago and host Dermot O'Leary seemed to take a special shine to her before we even heard her singing. Rozelle is 21 and sang One Night Only by Jennifer Hudson and was pretty good. She kept talking about her Grandmother but I missed why, I think she put her up to coming on the show or something. It wasn't the usual 'she's looking down on me from heaven' story. Anyway on to Miss Fitz. I'm not sure if it's MisFitz or Miss Fitz does anyone know? In any case they're a 3 piece girl group who sang Britney Spears Toxic in a sort of jazz/swing way. They seemed a bit nervous about how it would go over with the judges but everyone loved it even Simon Cowell. One of the girls in the group had been on the X Factor a few years before, the same year Leona Lewis won the competition.

Daryl Markham did a great job with Rod Stewart's I Don't Want To Talk About It. I thought he sounded a bit like Paul Weller at first. Daryl Markham did come prepared with his sob story about his brother dying of lung cancer and it all got a bit emotional at the end. His brothers son came running out on to the stage and everyone was crying but you know the drill by now, emotional music, slow motion shots, close up of the tears. I'm not saying it's not sad what happened to the guy but the ITV producers really play on it. I always wonder what happens to the crap contestants who have sob stories. Well I know the answer to that question. They don't get on the show. One other mention should probably go to Michael Houghton who sang a song by The Script. Michael Houghton split the judges with Simon Cowell not being too keen and Cheryl Cole, Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh all putting Michael through.

Anyway to the star of the night, Jamie "Afro" Archer. Jamie Afro Archer has Afro in there for a good reason, take a guess why. Yes that's right he has the most ridiculous Afro. Jamie is 33 and from London and for his opening monologue we went for the old 'this is my last chance' routine. If he doesn't make it now then apparently his voice will cease to work. He did exactly the same as Danyl Johnson, he worked the crowd up and got them onside right from the start. He even had Simon Cowell singing along to the Kings of Leon, Sex Is On Fire. To be honest I thought his voice was fairly average but we're seeing a big difference this year with the new X Factor 2009 Audition format. Having the live crowd there seems to bring out the entertainers and that gets some people through without necessarily having a great voice. Perhaps this is Simon Cowell's cunning plan, he's using the crowd as market research to see which X Factor contestant he can sell.

Ok now on to the funny X Factor 2009 Auditions! My favourite part. The stars of tonight had to be The Stunners. Wow they were something else. Lisa and Zoe make up The Stunners, both are unemployed and 17. They didn't lack any self confidence comparing themselves to Maria/Whitney/Justin and Christina. Simon Cowell said "You didn't sing a single word in tune". Hmm and they weren't stunners either. Kriztina Nagy was an X Factor 2009 contestant from Hungary and she was pretty awful. I didn't really know what she was saying most of the time and the singing was a disaster. I have to mention Alan Walton who opened the show. The judges were killing themselves laughing at Alan Walton who apparently needed his watch to count himself in to the song. Scary stuff Great Britain! We only had a brief glimpse of Andrew Ellis who claimed to be guided by angels in heaven. This is the general public which makes it all the scarier. Priceless are a boy band who Simon Cowell described as having "as much charisma as four bananas". There were a few other weird X Factor 2009 contestants too including Children of the Earth, they didn't get long enough screen time for me to really form opinion other than how weird they were. Checkout were the imaginatively named duo who both work in Asda. I think they're still working there.

Finally, this contestant has to go as both funny and strangely good. Leather-clad Behrouz Ghaemi whose rendition of Scissor Sisters Take Your Mama was pronounced "very entertaining" by the judges. Behrouz claimed to come from Persia, I'm not sure if that was a reference to Iran or his home planet. For me his vocals were awful but again he got the crowd going and through he goes. He was doing lots of weird things with his eyes so I wouldn't be putting any money on him being the X Factor 2009 winner. Hopefully he'll have lost the leather trousers by the time he gets to bootcamp.

That's the X Factor 2009 auditions episode 2 covered, what will next week bring?? I can't wait to find out! I'm sure Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue will look as stunning as ever, I wonder how much they spend on Cheryle Cole and Dannii Minogue style such as clothes hair and make up...hmm almost as much as Simon's? X Factor Episode 2 repeats are on 30 August 6:45 on ITV 2 and Friday 4th September at 6:45pm on ITV2. The Xtra Factor seems to be on all the time, I haven't bothered watching it yet but I'll get around to it.

X Factor Style | Fashion | Dannii Minogue | Cheryl Cole | Fashion

Where did Cheryl Cole get that dress from she wore on the opening night of the X Factor Auditions 2009? Where did Dannii Minogue get those shoes she wore on Saturday nights X Factor 2009 Auditions? Where did Simon Cowell get his latest black sweater/jumper. Ok does anyone really care about that? Maybe not so much. Since Cheryl Cole became a full time judge on the X Factor the media have been about a style battle or fashion battle between the two. They always seem to be at the forefront of the latest fashion styles and trends and so tuning in to the X Factor each Saturday night is a great way to see what the latest fashion trends will be. Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue have 10 million X Factor viewers each week so I guess they could be considered to be setting the fashion trends through the UK. So what are the latest X Factor fashion trends this year?

Lets cover the X Factor 2008 first! Cheryl Cole favoured sparkling dresses big eyelashes that drew attention to her gorgeous eyes and of course one of her signatures, stacked-up, backcombed, lacquered hair. This year on the X Factor 2009 Auditions she's changed her style slightly starting a whole new fashion trend. For example, her first outfit in the auditions saw her wearing platforms, her shoe of choice at the moment and leather trousers. Glasgow and Hampden Stadium had never seen the likes. Where does Cheryl Cole get these X Factor clothes? A bit camp I have to say but definitely Cheryl Cole's style. She's also been favouring pelmet short almost mini gowns which seems to hint at an 80's theme. Dramatic shoulders seem to be very in this season with Dannii Minogue favouring them too. I've read a few articles about Cheryl Cole styling herself this time around. I'm not sure why, perhaps she's going to go for a Cheryl Cole clothing line in the near future and is proving she knows what's she's doing in front of 10 million people each week. A risky game perhaps but not if she pulls it off which she seems to be doing so far. She has however picked out a few labels such as Alexander Wang, Preen and Alexander McQueen.

Dannii's gone for more a bob this season changing her hair and her style for the X Factor 2009 Auditions. Cheryl Cole has gone for the now infamous red tinge! We've yet to see it on the X Factor 2009 auditions so far but look out for it at the bootcamp. That's unless Cheryl changes her new red locks for another colour by then! As for Dannii Minogue, she recently admitted to giving up on Botox which might explain how she comes across as a bit warmer this year. No more robotic Dannii! She looks so much more grown up this term with her short bob hair. Dannii has gone for a much more feminine and sleek look this year and again going for the 80's trend with one shoulder dresses, black pants, shorts and jersey dresses. Everything else has been kept nice and simple. Dannii Minogue is certainly giving Cheryl Cole a run for her money in the fashion stakes. It's going to leave everyone asking where Dannii Minogue got her outfit from on a Saturday night?

X Factor 2009 Auditions - Episode 1

Well the X Factor 2009 Auditions officially started today on ITV1. There were a few outstanding individuals but Danyl Johnson stole the show. Simon Cowell even claimed it to be the 'best first audition' he's ever seen. I'm not sure I would agree with that but who am I to argue with the great man himself! Danyl Johnson is a 27-year-old teacher from Reading, he really got into the performance and was so energetic onstage. The crowd absolutely loved him and he knew how to work them too. He looks like a natural born entertainer with Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole all loving his performance. The X Factor 2009 Auditions are certainly back with a bang! Oh and in case you missed it the song he sang was The Beatles' classic With A Little Help From My Friends.

X Factor 2009 Auditions - 1 Day to go!

There's only one day to go till the X Factor 2009 Auditions start. ITV have announced there will be a few surprises this time round and the coverage of the X Factor will be more comprehensive than ever. This will hopefully mean more of Simon Cowell's witty put downs which lets face it is in most cases quite a good thing for the contestants. Some of them are really kidding themselves. Anyway it starts on Saturday on ITV and will no doubt contain the usual amount of hilarious contest and fantastic raw talent. The X factor 2008 was fantastic with Alexandra Burke winning and singing hallelujah as her winning song which went straight into the charts as number 1. Another X Factor contestant with a number 1 single!

JLS have also came back on the scene. They were of course X Factor 2008's runners up. There sound is very American Hip Hop R n B vibe to it which will no doubt bring them commercial success. How long will the last though that is the real question. Where is Alexandra Burke come to think of it? Perhaps Simon Cowell is planning to relaunch her career in the UK during the X Factor 2009 auditions to ensure maximum publicity. I'm sure they'll invite her on to the show later in the series once they get rid of all the first round idiots! They usually invite the previous years winners back. They did this with X Factor 2007 winner Leona Lewis. Was that 2 years ago already?? Wow time flies in the X Factor world. Leona Lewis is perhaps the most successful of all the X Factor winners since she's had success in America too. What about poor Steve Brookenstein? I think he's writing a book now about his X Factor experience. I'm not sure if he's to blame for that or if its bad management. Who knows! You can't knock Simon Cowell though!

Simon Cowell, Dannii Minogue, Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole are all back for the new series which is unbelievably series 6! My favourite part is always the auditions. I lose interest by the time boot camp comes around and the live show is just a karaoke contest. I'm also not a fan of the sob story routine! My cat has died but I'm mumbling my way through this song for them please please please vote for me. Don't beg for votes or do the little finger to ear thing to indicate a phone vote! It's sickening. This has turned into a bit of rant but I genuinely am excited for the X Factor 2009 Auditions starting tomorrow on ITV! You know you have to watch or you'll be out the loop at work on Monday when everyone's chatting about this ridiculous contestant or that wonderful singer. It's tremendous entertainment and best of all Ant and Dec don't host it anymore!

The X Factor 2009 Auditions

Welcome to The X Factor 2009 Auditions! The X Factor 2009 launches on Saturday the 22nd of August 2009 on ITV1 and if you're as big a fan as I am you'll be ready to burst with excitement. Simon Cowell is back of course, alongside regular judges Dannii Minogue, Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole. All the action is of course back on ITV1 with the Xtra Factor giving you the extra juicy details over on ITV2. You won't miss a thing with this coverage. Dermot O'Leary is back hosting again on ITV1. At least if he's hosting the show he won't have to fend off the question of is Dermot O'Leary gay? That's all I seem to read about when he's getting interviewed! I much prefer him to Kate Thornton who was famously axed by Simon Cowell a few series back even if Dermot O'Leary was branded a 'two-faced fake' by a contestant last year! Bitchy or what! What will the X Factor 2009 Auditions hold in store for us this year? Will there be an X Factor Audition to match up with 26 Year old holistic vocal coach, Ariel Burdett from West Yorkshire who is widely regarded to be the worst audition ever seen on the show? How about a repeat of the chicken factory worker x factor audition who entertained everyone for the wrong reasons? Or will we see another talent such as X Factor 2008 winner Alexanda Burke or X Factor 2007 winner Leona Lewis?

For me it doesn't matter! The X Factor Auditions are my favourite part of the whole show. I feel the entertainment value is just fantastic and shows off the true talents of Mr Simon Cowell! Everyone knows he runs the show and lets face it, it just wouldn't be the same without his cutting remarks and bringing contestants back down to earth with a bump! The other X Factor judges all have their place of course with Cheryl stepping into Sharon Osbourne's shoes admirably. I don't feel like the show has lost anything since Sharon left, Cheryl has done such a fantastic job. Perhaps we'll see Paula Abdul doing a guest appearance on the UK X Factor since she's now left the U.S. version of the show, known of course as American Idol.

So in case I haven't mentioned it already, Saturday the 22nd of August is the big day! The X Factor 2009 Auditions start on ITV1 so make sure you tune in to see it. It can sometimes be absolute car crash TV but that's what makes it so unmissable. Watching some of the deluded members of the public being put in their place and course watching genuine sheer raw talent walking on off the street and wowing X Factor audiences all across the country. ITV1 has a fantastic site dedicated to the X Factor but I'll keep you up to date on my thoughts of who should win and who should go back to the chicken factory after their X Factor 2009 audition! I can't wait to see who the guest performers are later on the show. They've had some fantastic guest on in the past to work with the contestants including Mariah Carey. I find the whole betting side of fascinating too plus its a little something unique to the UK X Factor. X factor betting is big business with most of the bookies laying down odds to the X Factor winner. Who will it be this year? Watch the X Factor 2009 Auditions on the 22nd of August 2009 to find out...
